Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) when he intends to make a statement about the proposed redundancy scheme for the Lancashire cotton industry;

(2) if, when considering the scheme for the Lancashire cotton industry, he will keep in mind that redundant workers should also receive compensation and compensation comparable with that of a miner declared redundant by the National Coal Board who receives £4 1s. 8d. a week for 26 weeks in addition to unemployment relief.
