§ 55 and 56. Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for War (1) what further representations he has received from the Suez Contractors' Employees' Association, or individuals formerly employed by the Suez contractors, about the compensation and treatment they have received since their expulsion from Egypt;
(2) what further inquiry he has made into the present condition of former employees of the Suez contractors.
§ Mr. H. FraserI am corresponding with hon. Members and others about these matters. On 9th April I discussed them with the hon. Member for Dudley (Mr. Wigg) and representatives of the Suez Contractors' Employees' Association who have also written to the Prime Minister. Settlement with the employees was in general effected during 1957 and 1958 on terms which we considered fair to all concerned. The Association is now pressing for more generous treatment.
