HC Deb 26 November 1958 vol 596 c49W
79. Mr. J. Hobson

asked the Postmaster-General how many telephone lines on the Kenilworth exchange are at present being shared by two or more subscribers; how many applications for telephones on the Kenilworth exchange are at present outstanding; and when a full and effective telephone service will be provided for all existing and potential subscribers to this exchange.

Mr. K. Thompson

291 lines are at present shared, each by two partners, 298 applicants are waiting for service, 32 of which are in course of being provided. New equipment and cables are needed in this district before we can meet all outstanding applications, but I hope that about half of them will be met next summer, when new plant will be ready for service. The remaining applicants await the completion of a new automatic exchange which we hope to have in service late in 1961 or early the following year.
