asked the Secretary of State for Air to what extent Royal Air Force personnel are being trained to use the Thor missile; and to what extent, in view of its successive failures, he proposes that this training should be continued.

Mr. Ward

As my right hon. Friend the Minister of Defence explained to the hon. Member last week, proving trials of Thor are continuing according to plan. The first group of R.A.F. officers and airmen selected for Thor squadrons have completed their initial training. Others are now being trained in this country and in the United States. There has been no alteration in the training programme.
