HC Deb 12 November 1958 vol 595 cc51-2W
104. Mr. Hayman

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will exclude the clifflands from the contract of sale of Perranporth Airfield, so that a coastal footpath can be assured to the nation either by gift to the National Trust or by a long lease to them at a nominal rent.

Mr. Ward

The public footpath along the cliff edge has been registered under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act, 1949. The land will be sold subject to these public rights of way.

105. Mr. Hayman

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he will insert in the contract of sale of Perranporth Airfield a condition that facilities must be provided for private and glider flying, in view of the fact that no other facilities exist in West Cornwall and that the Cornish gliding and flying club make use of it now.

Mr. Ward

I cannot at present add to the answer which my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State gave to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Rutland and Stamford (Sir R. Conant) last week.
