HC Deb 11 February 1958 vol 582 c42W
115. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenport

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Colonial citizens, with separate figures for coloured people, and how many foreigners, respectively, were resident in Scotland at 30th June, 1956 and 1957.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The number of foreigners registered with the police in Scotland was 20,777 at 30th June, 1956, and 21,023 at 30th June, 1957. As was explained in the reply to my hon. and gallant Friend on 6th February, it is not possible to give any similar figures of British subjects born in Colonial territories, or any separate estimate for the coloured population of Scotland.
