Mrs. Butlerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reply he has sent to the United Nations Association regarding the resolution accepted at the General Council of the United Nations Association urging Her Majesty's Government to sign and ratify the Convention on the Political Rights of Women, prepared by the United Nations Status of Women Commission, which was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 1952 and has been open for signature since 31st March, 1953.
§ Mr. ProfumoThis resolution was sent to my right hon. and learned Friend on 28th July. Since then the United Nations Association has been kept fully informed by the Foreign Office of the position of Her Majesty's Government about the convention on the Political Rights of Women.
In this connection I have nothing to add to my predecessor's reply to the Question by the hon. Member for Black-burn (Mrs. Castle) on 17th November.
