asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he is prepared to give financial support to Tyneside local authorities for schemes designed to reduce the pollution of the River Tyne.

My right hon. Friend will give sympathetic consideration to any applications for loan sanction which the local authorities may make.
