HC Deb 03 April 1958 vol 585 c188W
69. Mr. Skeffington

asked the Attorney-General whether he will consider allowing sums awarded by way of damages under the Fatal Accidents Acts and remitted to the county court to earn a higher rate of interest than now prescribed.

The Solicitor-General

No. The rate of interest allowed on these funds was increased on the 1st January this year and could not be further increased without loss to the Exchequer. I would, however, remind the hon. Member that my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor recently appointed a committee to consider the law and practice relating to these, among other, funds in court.
