HC Deb 11 November 1957 vol 577 c10W
Mr. P. Wells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will favourably consider the adoption of the progeny testing method for taking the length measurement in connection with the grading of bacon pigs.

Mr. Godber

My right hon. Friend will certainly consider at the next Annual Review the possibility of using the same points of length measurement for grading bacon pigs as are used by the National Pig Progency Testing Board. He is most anxious that there should be uniformity, but since the present length measurement is taken into account in paying premiums for quality, no change can be made before the next fatstock year.
