HC Deb 27 March 1957 vol 567 c109W
19. Mr. Lewis

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will introduce the necessary legislation to ensure that where a person or organisation makes a direct profit out of his telephone service by an additional use charge to a third party, such additional moneys should be made payable to him.

Mr. K. Thompson

No. As explained in my Answer to the previous Question by the hon. Member, this does not arise in relation to the Aintree position. The terms on which a renter of a telephone allows other people to use it is best left for settlement between the parties.

20. Mr. Lewis

asked the Postmaster-General if he will state by what regulations a subscriber to his telephone service is allowed to charge additional sums of money for persons or organisations using a private or business telephone service installed by his Department.

Mr. K. Thompson

There is no regulation allowing it and none forbidding it.
