HC Deb 27 March 1957 vol 567 c116W
82. Mr. F. Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies where the Archbishop of Cyprus is now being held; and what preparations have been made for his release and for ensuring that means of transport are put at his disposal.

85 and 86. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) if he will state what representatives of the British Government have interviewed Archbishop Makarios during the last ten days; what subjects were discussed and what decisions were arrived at during those discussions, and what decisions affecting peace in Cyprus have been reached by the British Government as a result of those discussions;

(2) if he will now make a further statement on the Cyprus position indicating in particular the nature, subject and results of his conversations with the Governor of Cyprus during his present visit to Britain.

Mr. Profumo

My right hon. Friend hopes to make a statement covering all these points in the near future.
