HC Deb 14 March 1957 vol 566 c195W
11. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Education what steps he intends to take to encourage the teaching of Commonwealth and colonial affairs in the schools.

Sir E. Boyle

A short course for teachers on some aspect of Commonwealth or Colonial affairs is run annually by my Department. In addition, my noble Friend will continue to help the Imperial Institute, which does a great deal to stimulate an interest in Commonwealth affairs in the schools. He is at present considering the possibility of arranging for one or more conferences of university and school staffs to foster the teaching of Commonwealth history.
