HC Deb 04 March 1957 vol 566 c2W
10. Mr. G. Thomas

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance the number of persons in Cardiff who received a clothing grant from the National Assistance Board during 1956; and the average amount of grant allocated in such cases.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I am informed by the National Assistance Board that during 1956 its offices in Cardiff made 2,518 grants averaging about £3 16s. each to meet exceptional needs, mostly but not entirely for clothing. These offices serve an area which extends beyond the city.
