asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he will make a statement about the engine defects in H.M.S. "Ark Royal".

Defects have developed in two of the turbines of this ship. The cause of the trouble cannot be established without expert examination in a major dockyard and for that purpose she is returning shortly to Devonport.

There is at present no reason to suppose that it will be difficult to put the trouble right once the turbine covers have been lifted.
