HC Deb 14 February 1957 vol 564 c212W
83. Mr. Turton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the Anglo-Egyptian Resettlement Board will be authorised to make advances to British subjects in this country against the value of property owned by them but now sequestrated in Egypt.

Mr. R. A. Butler

Arrangements have been made by the Foreign Office to record information about British property in Egypt with a view to classifying any claims against the Egyptian Government. This is an essential first step for the pursuit, at the appropriate time, of British claims against the Government of Egypt. In the meantime it will be the responsibility of the Board to make payments to meet individual needs.
