The information asked for in the first part of the Question is not available. The total value of loans sanctioned for private street works in 1956 amounted to £869,780.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will now introduce a system of grants to local authorities to enable them to relieve householders of the charges for private street works in cases where it is unreasonable to impose such charges on individual citizens.
