§ Mr. John MacLeodasked the Secretary of State for Scotland to what extent it is the policy of his Department to refuse a hill cattle subsidy to farms that may qualify for the subsidy if the owners of these farms have another major arable farm in the area.
§ Mr. MaclayIt is the policy of my Department to refuse hill cattle subsidy where the farming unit as a whole does not conform to the conditions of the Hill Cattle (Scotland) Scheme. A farming unit for this purpose may be a single farm or two or more farms adjoining or in close proximity, worked as one complete unit.
