HC Deb 11 February 1957 vol 564 cc144-5W
139. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the extent of damage to Scottish forests caused by the gales last week; and how this compares with 1953.

Mr. Maclay

The Forestry Commission is making a survey and will announce the result as soon as possible. It is too early to estimate the damage accurately but preliminary reports do not suggest that it is on anything like the scale of 1953.
