HC Deb 04 February 1957 vol 564 c13W
99. Viscount Hinchingbrooke

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Suez Canal Users Association is being revived to handle shipping dues and charges when the Canal is cleared of obstructions; or in what other way he proposes that the canal will be internationlised.

Mr. Selwyn Lloyd

The purpose of the Association is to represent the interests of the members—the most substantial users of the Canal—to whom proper arrangements for dues and charges are naturally of the greatest importance. Discussions are in progress on this subject, about which I cannot comment in detail at present.
