(2) when, and by what instrument, the Ruler of Bahrain agreed that the provisions of the Colonial Prisoners Removal Act, 1869, should be extended to cover Bahraini nationals convicted in Bahraini courts.

(3) on what date the Ruler of Bahrain presented an address to Her Majesty, requesting Her Majesty's sanction to enter into an agreement for the removal of Bahraini prisoners to St. Helena.

Mr. Ian Harvey

In November, 1956, Her Majesty's Political Resident in the Persian Gulf reported that his Highness the Ruler of Bahrain desired ararngements to be made for the detention in a British Colony of such persons sentenced by his courts as he might from time to time request. In order to give effect to the Ruler's wishes it was necessary to extend the Colonial Prisoners' Removal Act, 1869, to Bahrain, and he was informed that he should present an address to Her Majesty in accordance with that Act. The address was submitted by His Highness the Ruler on 18th December. No other formal instrument was required from the Ruler.
