asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what he estimates to be the need, amongst the aged in Scotland, for permanent hospital or institutional care.

Mr. Maclay

The hospital authorities and the local authorities assess the local requirements and try to meet them as resources permit. I have not therefore sought to make any national estimate of this kind.
