HC Deb 12 December 1957 vol 579 cc151-2W
78. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware of the difficult economic position of the small farmers in Warwickshire; and whether he will institute a survey in Warwickshire so that he may ascertain the facts of their position.

Mr. Godber

Information on the financial position of farms of different types and sizes throughout the country is ascertained from accounts collected regularly by university agricultural economists. This materials is considered at Annual Reviews of farm prices and special consideration is given to the small farmer. My right hon. Friend is not aware that the position of small farmers in Warwickshire—who account for only one to two per cent. of all such farmers in England and Wales—is in any way exceptional or that it calls for a special survey.
