§ 80. Mr. Baldwinasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether, in view of the harm which has been done to the export of sheep owing to the disease known as scrapie, he will make it a notifiable disease; and whether, when notified, he will take steps to isolate the flock affected or, if these steps are not effective, proceed with a slaughter policy.
§ Mr. GodberScrapie is difficult to recognise in its early stages, it has an incubation period of up to three years, and the source of any particular outbreak in this country cannot be determined. I am afraid that, in the circumstances, the measures suggested by my hon. Friend would not be practicable.
