HC Deb 11 December 1957 vol 579 c135W
Mr. Russell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will state the names of the countries whose representatives voted for, against, or abstained, respectively, on the resolution passed by the Trusteeship Committee of the United Nations last week concerning a policy for self-government for Trust Territories.

Mr. Ian Harvey

The Resolution was adopted by the Fourth (Trusteeship) Committee of the United Nations on 5th December by a show of hands; that is to say, without a roll-call vote. It is not, therefore, possible to give the names of the countries voting for and against the Resolution and abstaining on it. The Resolution was adopted by 44 votes to 15, with 12 abstentions. The United Kingdom voted against the Resolution.
