asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he will make a statement about the tour of duty of Her Majesty's Submarine "Thorough".

Mr. Soames

Her Majesty's Submarine "Thorough" left Portsmouth in October, 1949, and sailedvia the Suez Canal to Australia where she joined the fourth Submarine Squadron. This Squadron provides anti-submarine training primarily for the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy. She sailed from Sydney on 8th October this year across the Pacific Ocean and through the Panama Canal. She is due at Portsmouth on 17th December.
