§ Mr. Patrick Maitlandasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the Home Department will complete its study of proposals put forward by Lanark County Council for improvements to Cartland Bridge; and when he anticipates that work will begin.
§ Mr. MaclayLanark County Council has suggested that this bridge could be improved by the provision of cantilevered footpaths. This suggestion presents considerable technical difficulty and is still being examined. I will write to the hon. Member about the matter as soon as I can.
