HC Deb 03 December 1957 vol 579 cc27-8W
Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the Home Department will complete its study of proposals put forward by Lanark County Council for improvements to Cartland Bridge; and when he anticipates that work will begin.

Mr. Maclay

Lanark County Council has suggested that this bridge could be improved by the provision of cantilevered footpaths. This suggestion presents considerable technical difficulty and is still being examined. I will write to the hon. Member about the matter as soon as I can.
