HC Deb 02 December 1957 vol 579 c14W
Mr. Pentland

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance the latest available figures of persons receiving National Assistance in the division of Chester-le-Street, as compared with the figures covering the relative period for 1956.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The National Assistance Board informs me that the precise information asked for is not available, but that the number of National Assistance grants issued from its Chesterle-Street area office, which serves the Parliamentary division apart from the urban district of Washington, was 2,910 on 29th October, 1957, compared with 2,923 on 30th October, 1956.
