HC Deb 02 August 1957 vol 574 c299W
Lord Balniel

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether, during his recent tour of the Great North Road, his attention was drawn to the dangerous crossroads at Stanborough; and what action he proposes to remedy the situation.

Mr. Watkinson

I am aware of the need to improve this junction, and am considering the best way of doing so.

Lord Balniel

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation the number of reported accidents that have taken place at the Stanborough crossroads on the Great North Road during each of the past five years and during the present year; and what was the number of fatalities and the number of persons injured during the same periods.

Mr. Watkinson

The following are the figures:

ACCIDENTS AT OR WITHIN 20 YARDS OF STANBOROUGH CROSSROADS, HERTFORDSHIRE

1954 7 9
1955 3 4
