HC Deb 03 April 1957 vol 568 c50W
37. Mr. E. L. Mallalieu

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that road casualties in the county of Lincolnshire were the highest on record since 1941, with 466 children among them; and if he will cause art investigation to be made into the reason for this increase.

Mr. Nugent

Lincolnshire police report that road casualties in the County have exceeded the 1941 total in every year from 1949 onwards. We are much concerned with the increase in road casualties both in Lincolnshire and in the country as a whole. Our Department and the Road Research Laboratory are continually investigating the causes of this increase, which is largely associated with the growth of traffic in recent years.
