HC Deb 03 April 1957 vol 568 cc49-50W
36. Sir L. Ropner

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will give particulars of the last three toll bridges acquired and freed by highway authorities; and what were the principles on which such acquisition was carried out.

Mr. Watkinson

I understand that the last three toll bridges acquired and freed by highway authorities were those at Denton, near Ilkley, in Yorkshire, at Iron Bridge, in Shropshire, and at Littlehampton, in Sussex. My Department was not concerned in any way with these acquisitions and I do not know, therefore, the principles on which they were carried out.
