§ Mr. de Freitasasked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance why no pension has been paid to the relatives of the late Private Derek Ian Wing, Ingham, near Lincoln, who was killed in a road accident at Birstall, Yorkshire, on 12th June, 1955, while serving as a National Service soldier carrying mail during the rail strike.
§ Miss PittThis soldier's death has been accepted as due to his service in the Army. The conditions under which a pension could be awarded by my right hon. Friend to a dependant relative—Mr. Wing left no widow—were explained in July, 1955, in reply to an enquiry made on behalf of the relatives. No claim for pension has, however, been made.
