§ Mr. Willeyasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food why provision is made in his Department's Estimates for the expenditure of £1,800,000 on guaranteed prices for Australian meat; and the expenditure for the financial year 1955–56.
Mr. AmoryThe provision is made because it is expected that the prices realised by Australian meat during the current year will fall short of the minimum prices guaranteed under the Meat Agreement with Australia. The expenditure for the financial year 1955–56 was £122,000.
