§ 102. Captain Pilkingtonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has now considered the circulars he has received from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds protesting about the exclusion of certain birds from protection; and what steps he proposes to take.
§ Major Lloyd-GeorgeI have considered a note which I understand the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has circulated to its members and which some hon. Members have sent me. The note is about the Wild Birds (Eggs of Common Birds) Order, 1955, which made it no offence to take the eggs of certain common birds. The Order does not remove protection from the birds themselves or their nestlings or nests. I will68W keep the effects of the Order under review, and if it has a bad effect I shall not hesitate to reconsider it.
