HC Deb 15 March 1956 vol 550 c68W
103. Mr. B. Harrison

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider extending British territorial waters so as to include the Thames estuary from headland to headland.

Major Lloyd-George

It is in the general interests of the United Kingdom that States should limit their claims to territorial waters, and it is not therefore proposed to extend our territorial waters so as to include the Thames estuary from headland to headland, even if it were permissible under international law to do so.
