HC Deb 09 February 1956 vol 548 c204W
38. Mr. Dodds

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement showing what progress has been made in the talks aimed at finding out what housewives want in relation to better quality meat; and what interests are represented at the talks.

Mr. Amory

Discussions have been taking place with representatives of producers and distributors about setting up a committee to advise on the identification of technical problems requiring investigation and to encourage desirable technical developments in the meat and livestock industries. All sections of these industries including farmers, importers, wholesalers and retailers, have been consulted and support the proposals. I hope to make an announcement shortly about the constitution of the committee and its terms of reference.
