asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when it is proposed to authorise the two major schemes on trunk road A74 in the county of Lanark.

Of the two schemes on A74 in Lanarkshire included in the announced programme for the four years ending on the 31st March, 1959, I hope to authorise one (Auldton Heights to 1.7 miles south of Millbank) in 1957–58 and the other (Abington and Crawford Diversions) in 1958–59.
