HC Deb 11 December 1956 vol 562 c31W
Dr. Stross

asked the Secretary of State for War, in view of the fact that the 1st Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, now stationed in Hong Kong, will not be embarking for England on 9th December as previously planned, whether he will make provision for Christmas parcels to be sent by air either free or at a cheap rate.

Mr. John Hare

This year a post-free airmail Christmas parcel is being allowed only for Service men in Korea. To extend the scheme to individual units in non-operational theatres such as Hong Kong, however strong the particular case, would cause unjustifiable anomalies, and I regret that I cannot meet the hon. Member's request.
