HC Deb 06 December 1956 vol 561 c153W
14. Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to state the proportion of our total supplies of beef and veal, mutton and lamb, and bacon, respectively, which was home produced in 1955; and, in general, how this compares with previous years.

Mr. Amory

63, 32 and 44 per cent. respectively. The percentages in the immediately preceding years were practically the same apart from a marked increase in beef production in 1954 as a result of decontrol. The current percentages are except in the case of mutton and lamb substantially higher than prewar.
