§ 87. Major Beamishasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs when Her Majesty's Government proposed to the German Federal Government that a working group be set up to see how satisfactory provision might be made for compensation to those victims of Nazi persecution whose cases are not apparently covered by the new German legislation; and what reply has now been received.
§ Mr. Ormsby-GoreThe proposal to set up a Working Group was made to the Federal Government on 21st June, jointly with the Governments of Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, Luxembourg, The Netherlands and Norway. In an interim reply on 14th July the Federal Government stated that our suggestion was being considered. No final reply has yet been received, but Her Majesty's Ambassador has been recently informed that the Federal Government are at the present time engaged in a comprehensive examination of the whole question, for which extensive information has had to be procured.
