HC Deb 04 December 1956 vol 561 c102W
35. Mr. J. P. W. Mallalieu

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what compensation is to be paid to the owners of motor-driving schools who have lost their business through no fault of their own as a result of petrol rationing.

Mr. H. Brooke

Many people will be hit by petrol rationing and the shortage of oil supplies. It would be quite impossible for the Government to single out particular groups for the purpose of compensatory payments.
