HC Deb 02 August 1956 vol 557 cc190-1W
Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what amendments to the British Egg Marketing Scheme proposed by the National Farmers' Union the Government consider necessary in the interests of egg producers and consumers.

Mr. Amory

With my right hon. and gallant Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department and my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland, I have decided that the draft Scheme should be allowed to proceed subject to certain modifications. Notice of these modifications is being sent to the promoters. While these are final conclusions, subject in accordance with the usual practice only to consideration of any drafting points that the promoters may wish to raise, it would not be appropriate for me to disclose their nature until the promoters have had an opportunity of deciding whether or not to accept them.
