Mr. Swinglerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if, before giving a decision on the Sutton Silica Company's appeal under Section 17 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, against Newcastle Borough Council's requirement of planning permission, he will hold a public inquiry on the noise and dust nuisance created by the company's works in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
§ Mr. SandysThe sole issue before me is whether the change of use of this factory constitutes a material change in the use of land for which planning permission80W is necessary. Before I can reach a decision on this issue, I require further factual information, and for this purpose I am arranging for an inspector to visit the premises in the presence of representatives of the firm and of the local authority.
