§ 125. Mr. J. Harrisonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if, in view of the recent developments which have taken place, he will now make a statement on his policy with regard to the graveyards in Nottingham which revert to the Crown on liquidation of the companies which own them.
§ Mr. SandysAs I stated on 25th October it would seem appropriate that the Nottingham City Council should assume control of the area of the cemetery. If, under the powers provided by the Open Spaces Act, 1906, the City Council should decide to take over this land and maintain it, subject to burial rights, as an open space, I am empowered by the Town and Country Planning Act, 1954, to make a contribution towards their expenses, and I will be prepared to do so.
