HC Deb 24 November 1955 vol 546 c137W
83. Sir H. Linstead

asked the Minister of Education if he will make a statement indicating what assistance he is receiving and expects to receive from the electrical, petroleum, chemical and other technologically progressive industries in this country in connection with his plans for expanding educational facilities designed to meet present and future shortages of qualified scientists, engineers, technologists and technicians.

Mr. Vosper

These industries co-operate very closely with my Department in the planning of technical education and with individual technical colleges in the planning of courses and by paying for the attendance of students. They also help many colleges by gifts of equipment and by encouraging members of their staffs to serve on governing bodies or to undertake part-time teaching.
