HC Deb 21 November 1955 vol 546 c77W
84. Mr. J. Harrison

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether, in view of the revaluation of dwelling-houses for rating purposes, at 1939 prices, which increases substantially the valuation of all properties built before 1939 and will therefore exclude from the compensation category many properties at present eligible for such compensation under the mining subsidence provisions, he will introduce legislation to amend the Mining Subsidence Act before these new valuation lists become operative.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

As my right hon. Friend said in his reply to the hon. Member for Eccles (Mr. Proctor) on 26th July, there is no need for further legislation, but, when the new valuation lists are available, he will consider making an order to vary the limit of rateable value included in the Act.
