asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he is aware that shipbuilders of Germany are providing special facilities for the transportation of motor cars which enable a vessel to carry a much larger number of cars by fixing additional floors; and if he will now give permission to British shipbuilders to provide similar facilities on British vessels to place them on a competitive level.

Yes. There is no objection to installing fittings of this kind in British ships provided they are so arranged as not to endanger the safety of the ships or their crews.
