HC Deb 09 November 1955 vol 545 cc195-6W
98. Mr. Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware of the high prices charged for lodgings for soldiers' families in Gibraltar; and what steps are being taken to control these rents.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

I am aware of this problem. A local committee has been going into the question of rents in Gibraltar, including those charged to Service men in furnished lodgings. The report of the committee is expected to be ready by the end of the month, and I understand that it will contain recommendations for the introduction of legislation to deal with this aspect of the problem.
