HC Deb 04 May 1955 vol 540 c125W
55. Mr. Godber

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he has considered the request of the North Hykeham Parish Council for a roundabout on the A46 road in this village; and whether he will now give instructions for this to be provided.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I have noted the request. But for reasons which have been explained to the parish council, I do not think a roundabout is the right method of dealing with traffic at this place.

59. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if, in view of the urgency of the need for the construction of a roundabout at Redcliffe Way, Bristol, which is the first of the new schemes in the five-year plan, he will give further consideration to the question of an immediate grant for this purpose.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

I cannot say at present whether it will be possible this year to make a grant for this scheme. The Bristol City Council has not in fact indicated to me that they gave this scheme first priority, as the hon. Member suggests.
