HC Deb 21 March 1955 vol 538 c158W
84. Mr. Daines

asked the Attorney-General whether he will take action under the Statute of Praemunire to prevent the withholding of supplies to traders carrying out the decisions of private courts set up by trade associations.

The Attorney-General

No. The withholding of supplies in these circumstances does not constitute an offence punishable with the penalties imposed by the Statute of Praemunire. The procedure has in any case been obsolete for at least 150 years.
